Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

TL;DR: ScreenOps collects no personal data from the app. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, no analytics servers, and no tracking. All app data stays on your device. This website uses privacy-friendly analytics (Umami) and standard server logs. That’s it.

2. The ScreenOps app — what it collects

Nothing.

ScreenOps is designed from the ground up as a zero-server-data application. Here is what that means in practice:

  • No accounts. There is no registration, no login, no user profile. You install the app and set a PIN. That’s it.
  • No cloud sync. All configuration, earned time, behavior data, app classifications, and child profiles are stored locally on the device. Nothing is transmitted to any server.
  • No analytics or telemetry. The app does not send usage data, crash reports, or behavioral analytics to anyone. Not to us, not to third parties.
  • No location tracking. ScreenOps does not access or store your location or your child’s location.
  • No message or browsing monitoring. ScreenOps controls which apps can run and for how long. It does not read, log, or transmit the content of messages, browsing history, keystrokes, or any other personal communication.
  • No cross-device data. Each device is fully independent. There is no mechanism to sync data between devices because there is no server to sync through.

When you uninstall ScreenOps, all data is removed from the device. Nothing remains anywhere.

What the app does access on the device

ScreenOps requires certain Android permissions to function as a parental control app. These permissions are used exclusively for on-device enforcement and are never transmitted externally:

  • Usage Stats Access — to monitor which apps are running and for how long (earn/spend time tracking)
  • Accessibility Service — to detect foreground app changes and enforce blocking
  • Device Administrator — to prevent the child from uninstalling the app without the parent PIN
  • Display Over Other Apps — to show the blocking overlay when a locked app is opened
  • SMS (optional, Advanced mode) — to receive the Nuke-by-SMS command from a registered parent phone number only

All data generated by these permissions stays on the device. Period.

3. Google Play billing

ScreenOps uses Google Play’s in-app billing system for subscriptions (€1/month or €9/year). The billing relationship is between you and Google. ScreenOps does not receive, store, or process your payment details (credit card number, bank account, etc.). Google handles all payment processing under their own privacy policy.

The only billing-related information ScreenOps receives from Google is the subscription status (active, expired, or cancelled) to determine whether the app should remain active on the device. This status check happens locally through the Google Play Billing Library.

4. This website — what it collects

Server logs

This website is hosted by Hostinger. When you visit, standard server log data is automatically collected by the hosting provider, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and timestamp. This data is used solely for technical operation and security. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure website operation).

Analytics (Umami)

This website uses Umami, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics tool. Umami is self-hosted on our own infrastructure. It collects:

  • Page views and referrer URLs
  • Browser and device type
  • Country (derived from IP, but IP is not stored)
  • The website language you picked (so I know which translations get used)

Umami does not use cookies, does not track individual users across sessions, and does not store IP addresses. All data is aggregated and anonymous. No personal data is collected or shared with third parties.

External resources

This website loads fonts from Google Fonts. When loading these fonts, your IP address is transmitted to Google’s servers. This is technically necessary for rendering the website. Google’s privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no marketing cookies. None.

Contact by email

If you contact us via email, we store your email address and message content for the purpose of processing your inquiry. This data is not shared with third parties and is deleted once the inquiry is resolved, unless legal retention requirements apply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

5. Your rights under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — you can request information about any personal data we hold about you (spoiler: for the app, the answer is “none”)
  • Right to rectification — you can request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — you can request deletion of your data
  • Right to restrict processing — you can request we limit how your data is used
  • Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Right to object — you can object to data processing based on legitimate interest
  • Right to lodge a complaint — you can file a complaint with a supervisory authority (for Germany: LfD Niedersachsen)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at screenops.app@gmail.com.

6. Children’s privacy

ScreenOps is a parental control application installed and configured by parents. The app does not collect any personal data from children. It does not create child accounts, does not track children’s locations, does not monitor their communications, and does not transmit any information about children to any server.

All child-related data (profiles, earned time, behavior faces) exists only on the local device and is fully controlled by the parent.

7. Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Given that the app collects no data, major changes are unlikely.

This is probably the shortest privacy policy you’ll ever read for a parental control app. That’s by design.
